Passports

The Washington County Clerk’s Office in Potosi has been designated a Passport Acceptance Facility and is ready to begin accepting passport applications.  County Clerk Jeanette Allen, Carrie Richards, Courtney Robinson, and Taya Ortiz are all Passport Acceptance Agents.  Individuals who wish to apply for a passport in the County Clerk’s Office must call for an appointment to do so.  The telephone number to call is:  573-438-6111, ext. *7704.

You should not have to pay to fill out an application! Applications are free, you can get them online at travel.state.gov/form filler or in our office.
For an adult passport, you will need to bring:
  • An original or certified copy of your birth certificate
  • Photo ID/driver’s license
  • If your name has changed from your birth certificate, you need to bring the certified document showing why it has changed
    • examples such as marriages and divorces
  • A check or money order
    • $30.00 for the card, which is only good for land travel
    • $130.00 for the book, which is good for land travel and flying
    • it is an additional $60.00 to expedite to receive faster than routine delivery
  • $35 fee for the office, does not have to be a check or money order unless you want it to be
  • Passport photos
    • We take pictures in the office for $10.00
    • Or you can get them from Walmart in the electronic department
  • An adult passport is valid for 10 years, after it expires, you have 5 years to renew it. After that, you will have to get a new passport again
  • 16 and 17 year olds qualify for adult passports but they have to have at least one parent on the birth certificate present
A passport for minors requires
  • 15 years old and under
    • the applying minor must be present as well.
  • Both parents on the birth certificate must be present or the legal guardian
  • If you have a special circumstance regarding parents, there is a form in the office you will need to fill out and get notarized.
  • Both parents’ ID’s/driver’s license
  • The minors original or certified birth certificate
  • If the minor has a permit, we will make a copy as well
  • Passport photos
  • A check or money order
    • $15.00 for the card, only good for land travel
    • $100.00 for the book, good for flying and land travel
    • additional $60.00 to expedite
  • $35 fee for the office
  • A minor’s passport is only good for 5 years and you fill out a new passport form every time they need renewed until they reach 16 or 17 years old or older.
