Absentee Voting in Person

At any time during the six weeks prior to the election, qualified voters who have a legal reason as provided by state statute may cast an absentee ballot in person in the County Clerk’s Office at the Washington County Courthouse, 102 North Missouri Street, Potosi, Missouri, 63664. Normal business hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All absentee voters must sign an affidavit under penalty of perjury attesting to the legal reason for voting by absentee ballot. Voters must choose the following reasons:
  1. Absence on Election Day from the jurisdiction of the election authority which I am registered;
  2. Incapacity or confinement due to illness or physical disability on election day, including caring for a person who is incapacitated or confined due to illness or disability and resides at the same address;
  3. Religious belief or practice
  4. Employment as an election authority at a location other than my polling place, a first responder, a health care worker, or a member of law enforcement;
  5. Incarceration, although I have retained all the necessary qualifications for voting;
  6. Certified participation in the address confidentiality program established under sections 589.660 to 589.681 because of safety concerns.

During a two-week time period prior to an election, qualified registered voters may cast an absentee ballot in the County Clerk’s Office at the Washington County Courthouse without choosing one of the legal reasons above. This two-week time period is known as “no excuse” absentee voting.
